Corporate Event Magician Shrewsbury
If you are looking for a magician in Shrewsbury to stop your guests from awkwardly staring at their shoes, you have come to the right place.
Let’s be honest: corporate events can go one of two ways. They are either a civilised affair where people actually converse, or they descend into the sort of chaos usually reserved for a Viking mead hall. Fortunately, my recent visit to the launch of Co-Founded in Shrewsbury was firmly the former.
It was a Friday evening, 5 PM. The perfect time for an event. The weekend is within touching distance, hope has returned to the eyes of the workforce, and nobody is drunk enough yet to ask if I can make their wife disappear…
A Better Way of Working (And Performing)
Co-Founded is a shiny new flexible workspace opening in January 2026, situated inside one of Shrewsbury’s most iconic buildings. It is built for how people work today, which apparently involves nice furniture and not crying in a cubicle.
The launch was a sophisticated affair. We aren’t talking about a lukewarm buffet and tepid beer here. There was champagne, there were canapés, and there was a formal opening by local councillor Julia Buckley. It was legitimate.
My role? The classic icebreaker.
There were approximately 40 to 50 guests, which, for a close-up magician, is a fascinating number. It’s not a stadium, and it’s not a dinner date. It’s an intimate crowd dotted around in small clusters of two, three, or four.
Why I Secretly Prefer This to Christmas Chaos
I will let you in on a trade secret: huge corporate bashes are overrated.
Don’t get me wrong, I will happily take the booking, but if you read my thoughts on being a Christmas party magician in London, you will know that the festive season is often an endurance test. Loud music, questionable dancing, and people who think shouting “show us a trick” at my back constitutes polite conversation.
This event? This was a blessing.
The “5 PM Friday vibe” is a specific frequency of chill. The guests at Co-Founded were relaxed. They were there to see the new space, network, and enjoy a glass of something fizzy. They weren’t there to destroy the photocopier.
This meant I could actually perform.
This meant I could actually perform. I didn’t have to scream over a DJ flexing his speakers like a bodybuilder showing off at the gym. I could insert energy into the room without needing a megaphone.

The Art of Working the Room
In a setting like this, the magic has to be sharp. When you are standing three feet away from a local councillor or a potential investor, you can’t rely on flashy distractions.
The challenges of being a corporate events magician usually revolve around managing attention spans. But here, the challenge was purely about calibration. You have to read the group. Are they deep in a business discussion? Leave them alone. Are they standing in a silence so awkward you can physically feel the tension? Get in there and do something impossible with a deck of cards.
I found myself moving between groups, offering a burst of entertainment that served as a conversation starter. That is the real utility of networking event magic. It gives strangers something to talk about other than the weather or the canapés.
Small Corporate Events vs. The Big Raves
As a performer, I find these smaller gatherings wildly different from the large-scale corporate parties I usually attend.
At a massive event, I am essentially a firefighter putting out fires of boredom. I run from table to table trying to keep the energy up. At the Co-Founded launch, I was more of a host. It was gentle. It was refined. It allowed for the kind of sleight of hand that requires people to actually pay attention.
The guests were fantastic. No one tried to dismantle my props. No one spilt red wine on my suit. It was, frankly, a delight.
Hire a Corporate Magician Who Actually Enjoys It
If you are planning a launch event, a drinks reception, or a networking evening in Shrewsbury (or beyond), you need entertainment that fits the vibe. You don’t want a clown, and you probably don’t want a stand-up comedian roasting your CEO.
You want someone who can read the room, break the ice, and leave your guests wondering how their watch ended up in my pocket (don’t worry, I give them back).
