Wedding Magic at Ashton Lodge
Drinks reception magic at Ashton Lodge, a stunning country house in the heart of Warwickshire — and the story of Jess and Christian's big day, my first time performing at this gorgeous venue.
Recently I had the pleasure of performing at Ashton Lodge, a stunning country-house wedding venue nestled in the heart of Warwickshire. It was my first time there — and what a first it was. Jess and Christian's big day was nothing short of incredible.
I was booked for the drinks reception, right after the ceremony. Honestly, it's one of my favourite moments to entertain at a wedding — the perfect window to slip in a little unexpected fun. Here's how it went.
See it for yourself
Real guests, real reactions, no staging — close-up magic weaving through Jess and Christian's drinks reception. Card tricks, mind-reading, and a whole lot of "how did he do that?"
Why Magic is Perfect for the Drinks Reception
The drinks reception is one of the loveliest parts of the day — guests mingling, bubbly flowing, everyone basking in the newlywed glow. But it's also a bit of an in-between moment: the couple are off having their photos, and there's a lull while everyone waits for what's next. That's exactly where close-up magic earns its keep:
- Keeps the energy high. A magician lifts the room instantly with interactive fun, so the buzz never dips.
- Bridges the gaps. While the couple are off with the photographer, nobody's left standing around bored.
- Creates lasting memories. Shared "WOW" moments and laughter that stick with people long after the day.
At Jess and Christian's wedding, that's exactly what happened. Gasps, laughs, wide-open mouths — card tricks and mind-reading that had their guests properly questioning reality. It's why I love bringing wedding magic to celebrations at Ashton Lodge and venues across Warwickshire.
The Perfect Warm-Up
Close-up magic doesn't just fill the drinks-reception lull — it's the perfect warm-up for the wedding breakfast. By the time everyone sits down to eat, the mood's light, buzzing and full of chatter about "how on earth did he do that?" It sets the tone for the whole celebration.
What I bring is versatility. Close-up magic adapts to any audience — your chatty uncle, your best mate, the younger guests — so there's something for everyone. And it's not just tricks: every performance is tailored to your wedding's style and vibe, so your guests feel part of the magic rather than just watching it.
Let's make your Warwickshire wedding unforgettable
A huge thank-you to Jess and Christian for having me — Ashton Lodge was a joy, and their guests were an absolute pleasure to perform for. If you're planning your own wedding in Warwickshire, whether at Ashton Lodge or another gorgeous venue nearby, I'd love to bring that same spark to your day. There's a perfect moment for magic at every wedding — let's find yours.
