It's been a whirlwind week of corporate events, and last night brought me to the picturesque Lilleshall Conference Centre in Shropshire. My role? Post-meal entertainment for a corporate gathering - the slot where an evening either comes alive or quietly slides into people checking their phones.
Lorraine, the event organiser, reached out beforehand to explain her vision. She wanted to keep the evening alive after dinner, avoiding the dreaded after-meal slump. Honestly, it's always refreshing when a client already knows how these moments can either soar or sink without the right spark.
After 28+ years performing at corporate events, I can tell you she's spot on. That's where people like me come in and save the day (or evening).

No cameras. No videos. Nothing.
Of course, as life's cruel irony would have it, these golden moments remain undocumented. My best work, as always, is the stuff that can't be caught on record. Typical, isn't it? And sure, I could have stopped mid-performance to yell, "Quick, someone hit record!" But, spoiler alert, that's the fastest way to kill the magic and derail the vibe. Instead, I focused on the flow and brought my A-game to every table.
By the end of the evening, I'd performed for each group and couldn't stop grinning all the way home. It's honestly such a joy when you connect with an audience like that.
