Five favourites from a wedding magician who's performed across the county since 1998 - the venues that consistently wow guests, and exactly what makes each one special.
Planning a wedding and stuck on the venue? Relax - I've got you. I've spent more than two decades performing close-up magic at weddings across Staffordshire, which means I've seen a lot of venues from the best seat in the house: right in front of your guests.
Some are wonderful. Some... less so. But a handful stand out every single time - the ones with the right rooms, the right team, and the right feel for a proper celebration. These are my five favourite Staffordshire wedding venues, chosen not for the brochure shots but for how they actually work on the day.
Quick note: I'm a wedding magician, not a venue - so I can't book you a date. What I can do is tell you which places consistently get it right, and why. If one of them ends up on your shortlist, even better.
Sandon Hall
Sandon Hall holds a special place in my heart - it was the very first wedding venue I ever performed at, way back in 1998 (when boy bands ruled the charts and phones were the size of bricks). With its abundance of rooms, from grand drawing rooms to cosy, intimate spaces, it's perfect for setting up my Close-Up Corner and leaving guests utterly baffled. And being right here in Staffordshire, I can get there quicker than you can say "abracadabra" - not that I ever do.

If weddings had "lucky venues," Coton Farm would be mine. Some of my best-ever performances have happened here, so when I spot it on the gig list I know it's going to be a showstopper. The beautiful outdoor area is a massive win - the perfect setting for a bit of jaw-dropping close-up magic - and the whole place just oozes charm and fun. Superstitions aren't for everyone, but at Coton Farm? I don't mess with a winning streak.
Alrewas Hayes
If Alrewas Hayes were a person, it'd be the friend who's always upgrading their wardrobe - constantly levelling up and looking better every time you see them. This hugely popular venue keeps improving its facilities, and the latest addition is a gorgeous garden awning. Sounds minor, but if you've been to a British wedding you know the drill: rain, sun, rain, repeat. That awning shelters your guests, and my performing spot, from whatever the weather throws down. Rain or shine, the magic stays on.

Discovering Dunwood Hall was like finding a £20 note in an old coat pocket - an unexpected but very welcome surprise. It doesn't host weddings every other weekend, which means you get that boutique, exclusive feel. And the gardens? Chef's kiss. They're the definition of romance, and the perfect spot for me to work the crowd on those glorious, lazy summer evenings - whether that's mingling through the drinks reception or keeping everyone entertained after dinner.
Mill Barns
A quick confession: Mill Barns isn't actually in Staffordshire - it's just over the border in Alveley, near Bridgnorth, so it's really one of my favourite Shropshire wedding venues. But it earns its place here anyway, because it's where I first debuted my Close-Up Corner. The outdoor decking is the standout - where I get to blow guests' minds while they sip bubbly in the sunshine - and the staff are some of the friendliest and most professional I've worked with.
